You may be thinking “What on earth has Steve Jobs got to do with me?” Life is all about learning, and many artists could learn a lot from Steve’s outlook on life and importantly, business!
The following 15 minute video I believe is a must watch for anyone, but importantly I think the following extract from the video really stood out to me.
Here Steve Jobs talked about how he coped after being fired from Apple by the Board of Directors, but successfully ran two companies and continued working doing what he loved.
Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.
Many DJs and producers decide to quit and the reasons they give vary. Sometimes they are legit surely, but we have no doubt lost many good artists because they just simply quit.
If you are reading this now and are thinking of doing the same, please stop and take a moment to think…
Giving it up for another career. Will you be happy?
Quitting because you find it difficult. Try harder!
Leaving the scene because you are not getting the recognition you deserve. Market yourself better!
Work harder, learn more, ask for help, look at others for inspiration and love what you do!
