For many DJs being featured in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list is rather like being nominated for a BAFTA or an Oscar. It opens avenues, enables them to ask for a bigger booking fee and also there must be that feeling of “Yes I’ve made it!”. It is without a doubt the landmark event each year with dance music fans and industry insiders watching closely to see who takes the No.1 spot.
I was originally going to make this the Top 10 Trance DJs, but then with DJmag.com visitors voting for 7 out of the Top 10 DJs as part of our much loved genre, then it would of been way too easy a list to compile and not leave much food for thought. So here in all its glory is the Top 25 Trance DJs compiled from the Top 100 DJs List as voted by DJmag.com visitors in 2008!
01. Armin van Buuren
02. Tiësto

I’d personally like to see Above & Beyond take that number one spot this year, though I have nothing against any one taking or keeping the position.
Who do you rate or not recognise in the list, and who do you wish to take the top spot for 2009?

Very interesting but I’ve always wondered if these results truly reflect actual talent.

looks more like a list of the top 25 trance producers[apart from a few] when will people realise that just because uve had a hit record, doesnt mean your a skilled dj!i mean come on wtf is ATB doing there? Djing is djing not producing so when will djs get the chance to play based on there skills as a dj not a producer?

Sorry to say, but it goes hand in hand being a producer and a DJ these days unless you bring something different to the scene like Eddie Halliwell did.

well it aint rite, and when you consider most of them prob had someone engineer most of there tracks for them, just makes it seem even less fair.

Well I think the top 3 represent talent. All 3 have massive back catalogs of their own tracks, and all 3 produce, master and engineer their own tracks. You don’t see much of that these days. Armin in by far my favorite DJ as he really cares about the music (Listen to ASOT 250 for proof). Also shows that Trance is the best dance music art form there is lol

This list was crunched down from DJmag’s list, so later this year I’d expect we’ll see an appearance from him in there.
Remember to check out the other 25 I rounded up if you haven’t already
