I also think DJ’ing with Ableton or Traktor is the most boring thing you could possibly watch in a club:

have u used traktor cos the sync isnt as good as ppl think. u still have to adjust it. and doing tht thru the vinyl/cdj looks as normal as with a cd/vinyl on the turntable.

The one advantage being NO burning of CD's, the biggest bain of my life. nothing fills me with sorrow more thn knowing before a gig there CD's to be burnt. so tedious and boring, with traktor tho. take my laptop and external HDD along to the club and we're ready to go. No1 really has to see the laptop can be tucked away in a corner like my cd wallet woulda been. and only need to touch it to select tracks (There is a way to do this without even touching the laptop ala Zabiella, but not worked tht out yet)

Keep your 1210's get traktor and use the 4 deck capabilities. will defo bring a new dimension to your sets.

Yeah I totally agree it can be boring to watch.

As I stated, I think you have to think about bringing something different with your performance if you take the Ableton and Traktor route. You have to make up for the fact that you will have free time on your hands as you shouldn't need to monitor the beat-matching.

I don't think I'll ever get rid of mine. I mean, since I got my CDJ's I've not really touched them but I got one out a couple of days ago as I've been ripping a load of old tunes to CD.

I don't think I'd ever sell my vinyl as a) I've still got some amazing tunes that are worth keeping, b) the amount I'd get back on them wouldn't be nearly worth the hassle of selling them and c) if I have vinyl, I may as well have something to play them on, even if they sit in a box on top of my wardrobe.

I also think DJ'ing with Ableton or Traktor is the most boring thing you could possibly watch in a club. I can understand it with Techno or something similar as you can layer several tunes on top of each other and get a good effect where as with trance the melodies would just clash and it would sound shit. PvD is about the only trance DJ who I think can get away with it without looking lazy but each to their own I guess.
