Ben Gold For Trance Tuesday!

I never hear much talk about Ben Gold sadly. Sure, for those who know him or have already heard of him through channels such as Armin’s and Above & Beyond’s ‘Tune Of The Week’, alongside many of his tracks featured on stations and podcasts across the world and of course his Afterhours.fm show called ‘Life’ (nicely named after his track of the same name that was more than well received), you know what a seriously good DJ and producer he is. Hence why I am making him this weeks Trance Tuesday suggestion.

I remember hearing Ben play some years ago in Southampton, as far as I’m aware he was cutting his teeth back then, finding out what sounds he loved and refining his mixing skills. He was talented even then, making perfect track selection and rocking the crowd. Now you can see Ben Gold rocking the crowd across the globe from supporting Paul Oakenfold’s UK tour to playing in Poland, Australia and India.

2009 has already been a busy year for Ben Gold on the production front. His alias Be:Gold was picked up by the label Musical Madness (owned by none other than Marcel Woods) and top notch mixing duties on Andy Moor & Ashley Wallbridge feat. Meighan Nealon – Faces has made a large impact on the trance scene already. With an E.P. in the pipeline I expect my statement of “I never hear much talk about Ben Gold sadly.” to be blown out of the water as the year continues

New Trance Tracks 07-07-09

Time does fly! Before I know it another week has gone and with it come more superb releases…

This week saw a new release by one of my all time favourite trance DJs and producer. Whenever I see him he is always beaming ear to ear, typically donning a pair of sunglasses and a shaved head. I am of course speaking of Randy Katana and if I haven’t hyped him up enough for you then his aptly named track should do the rest of the work on making you a fan hopefully!

It has been such a long time that Randy Katana had released anything I was seriously starting to get worried! As they say “Good things come to those that wait!” and this new release has his trademark sound all over it. One I can’t wait to hear out on a big system

There is a Radio Edit version of this track. Why would you deprive yourself of further listening of this lush trance track by buying less than 4 minutes of it? I really don’t understand some people Either way, whichever release you buy will sound sweet with a nice vocal sample and melody running throughout. Close to big room sounding trance with the main lead hitting out.

Rank 1 release the Sunrise Festival Theme 2009, held on the 24th July till 26th July at Kołobrzeg, Poland. With beautiful strings it is a reminder how close trance is to classical music, without the need of a bow tie and looking like a penguin.

This is one of those tracks that I’m sure grows on you. When I heard the Original Mix I thought the vocals were leaning towards cheesy euro trance. This mix pulls the reigns in a little and has a better kick, but still those vocals…hmmm… I’ll have to play it some more I think and I would really like your opinion Haha!
