As always the production is top form from these two talented producers with a very tasty piano melody.

List of 10 New Trance Tracks 23-09-09

Well summer is coming to a close here in the UK and all those tracks you have heard on those (some) sunny days are rolling in. The DJmag votes are now being counted by the time many of you read this…will Above & Beyond take that number one spot I wonder?

Mean while the closing parties in Ibiza are under way and I’m planning on celebrating my 30th Birthday at Slinky, O2 Academy Bournemouth (formerly known as The Opera House). I shit you not this has totally made my day and trying to listen to other tunes to pick after I came across this corker of a remake has been hardwork. Old school Marco V tracks such as Indicator, Acid Pacemaker and of course Stimulated are some of my all time favourite tech-trance tunes. How could they not be? If you have ever loved tech-trance then I dare you to say you have not heard of at least one of those three and say you have not enjoyed them!

The Original Mix of Stimulated 2010 has that slight slant of the new Marco V. What I love is it does not give the game away until 2mins 38secs and then the trademark sound screams out.
The Jonas Stenberg Remix is one evil sucker with lots of familiar sounds but the main riff drops in at 3mins 57secs. This I can tell is going to be weapon of choice in many DJs collections but to be fair I love them both. Now who is up for Indicator 2010??

Friday Flashback – Take 3

Today we will have a more interactive Friday Flashback because I’ve chosen this track being inspired by the story of a good friend of mine, Trance Angel. We were talking some days ago and he was telling me how this trance tune influenced him and changed his life (like a second birth), how this track got him into trance music and also gave him his nickname. I was delighted to hear all the nice memories this melody brings out, not only for him, but for me too, so I was thinking if you could also tell me your stories related to this track. Yes, I bet you all remember it! But before anything else, let’s hear the story of the song!

On the 5th of December 1994, “45 RPM” , the debut album of Paul van Dyk, was out on MFS Records in Germany and so was one of the most popular trance hits ever produced. The first video of this song was filmed in the Riviera Maya in Mexico, during the year of 1994, and the vocals belong to Ute Lampka-Konrad. Initial copies of this album came with a bonus disc of remixes Paul van Dyk had done for other artists called “45 Remixes Per Minute”.

Later on, the tune was reworked and re-released (1998) as “E-Werk Remix” (a homage to the E-Werk nightclub where van Dyk used to be the resident DJ) on Deviant Records (UK) and Mute Records (USA) and reached #28 in the UK Singles Chart and #26 in the Irish Singles Chart. So, the second video was filmed and released, containing footages from the famous “Love Parade” in Berlin.

In 2009, it has been remixed by several artists like Activa, Filo And Peri, Miika Kuisma and, of course, PvD, and was released again by the record labels High Contrast Recordings, Ultra Records, Vandit Records, New State Recordings and Island Records.

I think that you all have guessed what tune I’m talking about. Here it is: For An Angel! And because I prefer the 1994 version, I’m gonna leave you with this video:

Time does fly! Before I know it another week has gone and with it come more superb releases…

This week saw a new release by one of my all time favourite trance DJs and producer. Whenever I see him he is always beaming ear to ear, typically donning a pair of sunglasses and a shaved head. I am of course speaking of Randy Katana and if I haven’t hyped him up enough for you then his aptly named track should do the rest of the work on making you a fan hopefully!

There is a Radio Edit version of this track. Why would you deprive yourself of further listening of this lush trance track by buying less than 4 minutes of it? I really don’t understand some people Either way, whichever release you buy will sound sweet with a nice vocal sample and melody running throughout. Close to big room sounding trance with the main lead hitting out.

Rank 1 release the Sunrise Festival Theme 2009, held on the 24th July till 26th July at Kołobrzeg, Poland. With beautiful strings it is a reminder how close trance is to classical music, without the need of a bow tie and looking like a penguin.

This is one of those tracks that I’m sure grows on you. When I heard the Original Mix I thought the vocals were leaning towards cheesy euro trance. This mix pulls the reigns in a little and has a better kick, but still those vocals…hmmm… I’ll have to play it some more I think and I would really like your opinion Haha!

New Trance Tracks 18-05-09

Just like last week I’m really struggling to resist adding more than 5 new tracks, and this week you will be glad to know I have failed! So here are 10 New Trance Tracks that I think you’ll more than like!

The list below is just a small selection of the many great tunes floating around at the moment, but first I’ll start with a progressive tune that I heard played from a DJ’s laptop not so long ago at a house party. It is by no means a new track having being released last year, but I really, really, really do love this track. It is unusual for me to like a progressive tune as much as I do this one, I think the last time I bought a true progressive tune it may have been Holden & Thompson’s ‘Nothing’ to put it in perspective.

So, this maybe a list of New Trance Tracks I try and gather each week, but along the way I may include something that is new to me and old to you. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder of a great track, enjoy!
Also I notice some of the sites I visit release the same track at different times, so I’m sorry if there is confusion if you have seen a release elsewhere earlier. I’m working very hard on getting official release dates from labels and artists directly to avoid this in future.

I’ve been winding a few of my followers up on Twitter about loving this track, well here it is! It has that perfect summertime feel to it and with the sun shining again I bet this really set the tone last summer for those who heard it – lucky people I say! I know I will be playing it this summer due to its uplifting and euphoric nature.

Another progressive tune for you, somewhat deeper and darker here with a lovely rhythm to it. I love the use of percussion and the vocal which really brings the track to a new level. I have never come across this label before even though it has been in existence for many years. I recommend checking out their other releases that are really something different from the norm.

Many tracks are doing a fabulous job at infusing tech-trance sounds and feeling to a progressive attitude right now and this is one of them. There are many producers from further east doing a great job representing trance to the world and I must say I’m loving their sound. I’ll be looking at for further releases from Michal Poliak and those of WA-X records, which happens to be a label from CGI Records.

A nice use of Robert Mile’s ‘Seven Days and One Week’. Another one of those tracks that will get a good reaction from making use of a classic and if you remember I featured RR Recordings previously with Cartouche’s ‘Bitter Sweet’ track. Good stuff coming from this label that is brushing close to commercial but doesn’t quite cross the line to turn me off.

I do like a bit of Marcel Woods for his ear piercing synth use and here it as if he has ripped Marco V’s ‘Unprepared’ and made it his own. Suits me fine!

Was disappointed to hear Richard Durand going down the big uplifting vocal route until I heard the Roger Shah Remix. I hope this is not an ongoing trend for producers who have done well doing the tech-trance sound with vocals; John O’Callaghan being another example after his album featuring a load of vocalists and no hard hitting sound in my opinion.
