RR Recordings for Trance Tuesday!

This week’s Trance Tuesday is featuring the label RR Recordings. I really have enjoyed their work immensely recently and have featured a few of their tracks on my round up of new releases each week.

RR recordings originally started out as RR records founded by Ron van den Beuken with the first release in 2001 called ‘Mystery’ produced under his alias The Mystery. 2009 saw the name change to RR recordings and re-launch under the parent company Spinnin’ Records. Since then there has been multiple releases (I count six at time of writing with various remixes) that take a familiar sound and drive it home once again to the dance floor.

Some of my favourites so far have been the labels rework of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ and Chicane’s ‘Saltwater’, in the form of Cartouche’s ‘Bitter Sweet’ and Ron Van Den Beuken’s ‘Faraway (Harry’s Game)’ respectively. Their back catalogue is worth checking out too with releases from Sam Sharp and DJ Tatana.

New Trance Tracks 01-06-09

Quality UK summer weather means pulling out some ultimate trance tracks to blast out on the speakers!

I really want to say there are some awesome tracks around, and as you will notice from the selection below, some great remixes and sample uses of some classic trance! Love them or hate them, you can’t beat hearing some one else’s slant on an awesome release.

“Overture (French ouverture, meaning opening) in music is the instrumental introduction to a dramatic, choral or, occasionally, instrumental composition.” On the advice of Wikipedia I would say this is a switch track, meaning that once you drop this track or hear it played you know the night has really begun. Dirty bass and euphoric sounds all in one!
Also check out ‘Cloud Shadow‘ as part of Greg Nash’s ‘Shadow EP’, very good stuff too.

Three Drives – Greece 2000 (Sander van Dien Remix)

The man that was once half of First State shows that he’ll be marching on with this great remix of the classic that every girl, boy, dog, cat, goldfish and ultimately every trance lover should own by now. 12 years on Sander van Dien does justice to Greece 2000, now over a decade old, 12 years old in fact! I wonder what its teenage years will bring?

If your anything like me, then you have probably hopped into other genres at times and enjoyed what they had to offer. Signum’s ‘What Ya Got 4 Me’ is an absolute classic that was snapped up by Tidy Trax after it was first released on Jinx Recordings. It was often a track to be heard blasting from chalets at many a Tidy Weekender and now I have a perfect progressive mix of it to cherish over the summer.

I saw this a few weeks ago when released on Soundpiercing and really grew to love it afterwards. I regretted not putting it in the list that week so I badgered Armada to sign it and guess what… Ok yes I’m telling fibs! But I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from Armada is telling the same kind of story, as I’m sure they would of had a chance to have released this before Soundpiercing and are now making amends – as am I by featuring it this time round.

I could recommend all three releases of ‘Empty Sky’, but to define the tech-trance that Indecent Noise produce please go look the word “savage” up in the dictionary.

About time I got Ex-Driver in here, great hard hitting trance by these guys keep cropping up everywhere! One of the many great Russian producers getting support and he is seeing support from Ferry Corsten, one to watch.

Push’s new album Global Age is due for release and here we have a bonus track that I really enjoy as it provides a bit more depth to the kick than the original. Nicely done and also I spotted there is a bonus remix of Interference by Sean Tyas for any of his fans.

Robert Vadney for Trance Tuesday!

Last week I announced that Trance Tuesday is about change. Where as previously I stated that it should be kept to DJs and artists who are pretty much unknown, I would like to now state that it is a free for all, you may use #trancetuesday to highlight anyone and everything trance related. Many of my followers were adopting this attitude anyway so I felt it was obvious that many of you felt that this principle would be a lot better.

This week’s Trance Tuesday is someone who in the past year has completely changed the way trance can and will sound. Robert Vadney‘s album entitled ‘Halloween Anthems‘ (released last October with perfect timing from Perfecto Records) is not something you really would expect to redefine how trance can sound, but that is exactly what he has done with a sound like no other. His latest album ‘Shadowlove Anthems‘ is further proof to a very talented individual with a very unique sound.

‘Halloween Anthems‘ infuses what I would call Tim Burton let loose in a studio with Sean Tyas, Thomas Bronzwaer or any number of talented trance producers. You just can’t compare his sound to any DJ though! Robert Vadney is totally unique (please do correct me if wrong as I would love to find more of this sound available).

‘Shadowlove Anthems‘ is yet again altogether something else but this time a lot more vocals and so many more of the tracks will give a better impression on the dance floor I feel than his previous album.
From just listening to what I can on DJdownload.com I pick out ‘Black Clown‘ and ‘Hopeless Romantic‘ as some favs. Check out his releases on your favourite download site, I recommend DJdownload.com for listening at least due to the ability of listening to any part of the track in segments due to NeedleDrop Player.

I’m truly astonished that I had not heard of him earlier. Having my head in tech-trance land for most of last year and now running this site is teaching me a few things, namely keep your eyes and ears open and you will find so much more talent

Some people make beautiful trance tracks, where as I believe Robert Vadney makes amazing trance tracks that leave you curious, intrigued and slightly twisted as he is said to reign supreme as “The King of Gothic Trance”…

New Trance Tracks 18-05-09

Just like last week I’m really struggling to resist adding more than 5 new tracks, and this week you will be glad to know I have failed! So here are 10 New Trance Tracks that I think you’ll more than like!

The list below is just a small selection of the many great tunes floating around at the moment, but first I’ll start with a progressive tune that I heard played from a DJ’s laptop not so long ago at a house party. It is by no means a new track having being released last year, but I really, really, really do love this track. It is unusual for me to like a progressive tune as much as I do this one, I think the last time I bought a true progressive tune it may have been Holden & Thompson’s ‘Nothing’ to put it in perspective.

So, this maybe a list of New Trance Tracks I try and gather each week, but along the way I may include something that is new to me and old to you. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder of a great track, enjoy!
Also I notice some of the sites I visit release the same track at different times, so I’m sorry if there is confusion if you have seen a release elsewhere earlier. I’m working very hard on getting official release dates from labels and artists directly to avoid this in future.

I’ve been winding a few of my followers up on Twitter about loving this track, well here it is! It has that perfect summertime feel to it and with the sun shining again I bet this really set the tone last summer for those who heard it – lucky people I say! I know I will be playing it this summer due to its uplifting and euphoric nature.

Gareth Emery – Metropolis (Original Mix)

Gareth’s second release ‘Metropolis’, on his new label Garuda, is just as keen as ‘Exposure’ to show why so many people are believing him to be one of the leading figures of trance for the future. Another top notch track!

Another progressive tune for you, somewhat deeper and darker here with a lovely rhythm to it. I love the use of percussion and the vocal which really brings the track to a new level. I have never come across this label before even though it has been in existence for many years. I recommend checking out their other releases that are really something different from the norm.

Michal Poliak – Carpathia

Many tracks are doing a fabulous job at infusing tech-trance sounds and feeling to a progressive attitude right now and this is one of them. There are many producers from further east doing a great job representing trance to the world and I must say I’m loving their sound. I’ll be looking at for further releases from Michal Poliak and those of WA-X records, which happens to be a label from CGI Records.

Taylor & Close – Vanity Fair (Neal Thomas Remix)

The Neal thomas Remix is a TrackItDown.net exclusive and does the business really well, but any one of the other mixes are worthy for your collection I’d say. A nice use of Robert Mile’s ‘Seven Days and One Week’. Another one of those tracks that will get a good reaction from making use of a classic and if you remember I featured RR Recordings previously with Cartouche’s ‘Bitter Sweet’ track. Good stuff coming from this label that is brushing close to commercial but doesn’t quite cross the line to turn me off.

Marcel Woods – Inside Me (Original Mix)

I do like a bit of Marcel Woods for his ear piercing synth use and here it as if he has ripped Marco V’s ‘Unprepared’ and made it his own. Suits me fine!

Richard Durand – Always The Sun (Roger Shah Remix)

Was disappointed to hear Richard Durand going down the big uplifting vocal route until I heard the Roger Shah Remix. I hope this is not an ongoing trend for producers who have done well doing the tech-trance sound with vocals; John O’Callaghan being another example after his album featuring a load of vocalists and no hard hitting sound in my opinion.

Lush track that you have heard many a time no doubt, and will hear again and again now everyone can get their hands on it. The remix by Nitrous Oxide ups the pace nicely if you find the original too laid back.
