Ministry of Sound – Save Our Club Campaign!

Save Our Club Petition

The infamous Ministry of Sound Club, which has seen two recessions, countless changes in the dance music scene and infinite numbers of promoters/brands want to take its place, has a battle on its front door step…

The future of the Ministry of Sound club has been put in doubt following a planning application by property developer Oakmayne. The company has submitted plans for a residential building on the site of the old Eileen House, which, if built, would sit opposite the Ministry of Sound building and could pose a significant threat to the club’s entertainment license. Oakmayne’s attitude towards preserving the longevity of the club is perhaps best summed up by a comment from its chairman, Christopher Allen, who when questioned gave his opinion that “nightclubs come and go”.

Unfortunately if lost, this fight will not mean cherished memories provided elsewhere, but simply a property developer walking away with a pocket full of cash and residents complaining about ‘that club’ over the road. The property developers in question do not care about the history of the club and residents will not realise the economics behind a superbrand such as Ministry of Sound. In my view, the very thought of the club being closed risks the entire foundation upon which the brand is built.

Ministry of Sound is more than a nightclub. Other brands may “come and go”, but we are talking about a brand that has established itself as a record label at the forefront the EDM scene (with stock in every high street) and tours across the globe! It is quite obvious that Ministry of Sound is not going anywhere anytime soon if left to its own devices.

This is where I call upon every EDM fan to do the honourable thing and sign their petition. No matter where you are in the world, please support this campaign – this could be your club!

In fact this is your club! Ministry of Sound opens its doors to each and everyone of us; no matter your age, gender or race. A visit there is worth the trip no matter where you are in the world.
Every time I have been I have had a great night, friendly staff and come away wishing I lived that little bit closer so I could visit each week.

I hope that the petition saves a clubbing institution, but that can only be done by supporting the…
